- Turn off the system and attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet.
- Open the system.
- If applicable, remove any expansion cards.
- Remove the expansion-card cage.
- Removes the cooling shroud.
- Removes the fans.
- Remove the fan bracket.
- If applicable, remove the RAC card.
The DIMMs are hot to the touch for some time after the system has been powered down. Allow time for the DIMMs to cool before handling them. Handle the DIMMs by the card edges and avoid touching the DIMM components.
- Remove the memory modules & System Board.
- Remove the heatsink(s) and the microprocessor(s).
- Removes the side plane.
- Removes the SAS backplane.
- Pull the system-board tray riser release pin.
- While pulling the release pin. slide the system-board tray toward the front of the chassis.
- Lift up the system-board tray and remove it from the chassis.

- Lower the system-board tray until the tray sits flat on the bottom of the chassis.
- Ensure that all 17 system-board securing tabs are fully inserted into the 17 system-board securing slots.
- Slide the system-board tray toward the back of the chassis until it locks into position.
- Replaces the SAS backplane.
- Replaces the side plane.
- Reinstall the TOE key, if applicable.
- Replaced the heatsink(s) and the microprocessor(s).
- Replaced the memory modules.
- If applicable, replace the RAC card.
- Replace the fan bracket.
- Replace the fans.
- Replace the cooling shroud.
- Replace the expansion-card cage.
- If applicable, replace any expansion cards.
- Close the system.
